WVWA Coulter Façade Improvement
In 2016 the WVWA noticed the EIFS was failing and decided it was time to improve the appearance of the façade. Hughes Associates A&E was selected by the Western Virginia Water Authority to design new facing and a new plaza deck for the Coulter Building located in Downtown Roanoke.
While removing the failing EIFS some of the original details from 1912 were uncovered and incorporated into the final design of the new plaza deck. The remaining façade had new adhered stone facing installed along with dedicated mural location. The third floor rubber membrane roof was reinforced and transformed into a plaza deck giving private outdoor access to employees of the WVWA.
