Centra College of Nursing and Simulation Center

Hughes Associates designed renovations for the Centra College of Nursing & Simulation Center. This included six large lecture halls, offices, administrative suites, and nursing skills areas recreating actual hospital environments. These simulation areas allow students to perform procedures, monitor, diagnose, and treat volunteers and remote-controlled medical mannequins. Skills areas include rehabilitation, patient rooms, critical care, home care, EMS, helicopter, operating rooms, ambulance, labor and delivery, and pediatrics.

We worked closely with the physicians, educators, and administrators to program and plan spaces that realistically simulated clinical environments. Our services included designing and specifying state-of-the-art mechanical, electrical, and lighting systems for this 162-room facility. The project cost came in significantly under budget, which allowed areas scheduled as future work to be included in the first phase.
