Hughes Associates A&E provided design and construction documents for the renovation of 1,260 square feet of the Virginia Museum of Transportation into an Aviation Gallery. While showcasing various forms of air transport with actual vehicles, the display will also pay tribute to Roanoke’s local pioneers of flight. The design incorporates the nose of a Boeing 747 to allow patrons to tour the cockpit and baggage areas. Renovations will include a small theatre with airline seating. Two private airplanes, a hot air balloon, and hang glider will be suspended from the ceiling.
