The family room addition created 21st century space for this 1930 Tudor-style home, while maintaining the old-world feel that first attracted the owners to the house. A two-story space offers ample room for the owners’ extensive collection of books and art and a close connection to their private yard and koi pond. A reading loft overlooks the seating area and creates an inglenook for the fireplace. Salvaged bricks and a timber frame breezeway blend the new with the old. This renovation was the winner of an AIA Blue Ridge Merit Award for Excellence in Architecture.
