Hughes Associates A&E designed an upscale residential subdivision intertwined with nine holes of the Ashley Plantation Golf Club. The Orchards was designed in two phases with 89 half-acre, single-family lots. The total development, including the golf course, covers 113 rolling acres in Botetourt County.
The layout of the subdivision was optimized to enhance family living and allow enjoyment of the golf course. The project includes 1.25 miles of paved public roads with curb and gutter, 1.75 miles of public sewer and 1.25 miles of public water lines. Bioretention basins and three of the golf course’s water hazards were incorporated into the drainage network to meet both VDOT and Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation’s strict guidelines for stormwater management.
