Hughes Associates A&E was commissioned by First United Methodist Church to design much needed administrative space, solve accessibility problems, and update classroom heating and air conditioning systems.
The resulting 5,700 square foot administrative wing matches the style of the existing building. An elevator was inserted into the existing building offering full access to all levels of the building. To provide covered access from the parking area for members and visitors, a new 1,700 SF porte-cochere was added. The project included new parking spaces with landscaping additions and improvements which provide a welcoming setting for visitors and members. The new playground configuration and equipment offer recreation and fellowship opportunities for children.
Inefficient electrical and mechanical systems were updated and replaced, ensuring that the congregation will be safe and comfortable well into the twenty-first century.
